Letter to the Auther

Greetings Stephen Chbosky,
Your knew book called Perks of Being a Wall Flower. I would love to make it a movie because of how it connects to the young adult audience. It also has a good story line and its easy to follow. Some scenes in the book I'd like to keep in this movie. When the fight breaks out with Patrick, Brad, and Brad's friends. The scene where Charlie feels infinite is another scene I would keep.
Some things I might need to cut from the book when if I can create a movie from it are the first fight with Charlie and Sean. It seems a little unimportant because Sean doesn't come in the book after that. Another thing that wasn't so important was the grandfather interrupting and causing a lot of drama. I want to show some of the relationship of Charlie and Mary Elizabeth.
When discussing the role play I think Emma Watson would be a great character for Sam. She is great at showing emotion and has a lot of spirit. Ezra Miller would play Patrick. He is well fit for the role since his life is just like Patrick's. Logan Lerman would be wonderful for the character Charlie because he shows great emotion and he did a great job being the character of the movie Percy Jackson.
Some songs that I would play are ones that have a deep meaning to them and kind of describe the story but are old. The songs that you want to just sing along since everyone knows them and it just feels like your infinite.
I think one of the most important scenes in this book are when Charlie messes up when he kisses Sam instead of Mary Elizabeth. Another scene would be how Mary Elizabeth controlled the conversation and how Charlie felt about it. Having these would show the audience how unhappy he was with her and how much he wanted Sam.
Something unique about your book that is vital to keep in the movie is how well it connects with the younger audience and how well it describes there life. It also can describe a little of someone's life and struggle throughout high school.
Overall this book would be great to film to connect to the young audience and how well the story is told.

Sincerely,
Maddie Dimerling

Final Review

Final review on Deep Blue:

Overall the book was amazing! It kept me reading even though my mom didn't want me to read. The book kept me reading even when it first started. It had romance and adventure. Some mythical creature of course called a mermaid.  The princess of Cerulea is Serafina, she was the main character of course and her friend Neela. This story is basically saying a whole city blew up and Serafina and Neela are getting hunted so they can be killed. They make it out of a lot of close calls. But in the beginning of the story it had a prophecy and it was about 6 mermaids and well of course they come together and figure out why they have to go to a certain place.

First Glance

Image result for deep blue       My book is Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly. Its basically a mermaid book with a little twist. Everyone knows that mermaids use magic by using their voices and songs. Serafina the main character is the princess to Cerulea. She's supposed to take her tests and see if she will be queen. Sera will be betrothed to Mahdi, crown prince, so they can unite the two cities. Something goes terribly wrong and your just going to have to read the book.

"Deep in the black mountains, deep in the Romanian night, deep beneath the cold, dark waters of the ancient Olt, the river witches sang."
This is the first line in my book. It's kind of interesting cause we don't know who the river witches are or what the ancient Olt is. It also intrigues me to keep reading because what is the significant in the song and how will it tie with the story.

Mahdi, the crown prince, was betrothed to Serafina with no choice at all. They start seeing and talking to one another and soon after they begin to like one another. Two years have passed since then and Serafina has heard that Mahdi is a whole different person. Serafina is scared to see him since its been two years and he's changed quite a bit. In the beginning he is a quiet, shy boy that doesn't really talk and now he's been changed into a party boy and breaking all the rules. The big question is, is he bad or betray Sera or will change back to his old ways when he sees her now? My personal hope is that he changes back to his old self for Serafina and they can marry by their choice.

I choice this book in all honesty because it was a cover of a Bea Miller album. I saw the book in Half-Priced Books and remembered that and started reading it. The cover was the hooker for me because I love mermaid books or a story that's underwater. It captured my eye and the title went a long way with it too.

Why we read?

Why I read?
The reason I read is to pass the time and actually feel like I'm in the story. I like to feel like I know the characters and I'm along side them when there on an adventure that I would love to be on. I also read because it widens my word choice. Sometimes I like to hear a good story because it just sounds so interesting. Many people say reading is boring and saying they have to read because their mom or teacher makes them but if you find a good book that your interested in it makes you want to read more books like that.
I read many fantasy books and adventure books. When I read fantasy books I start believing that could happen but then get disappointed when it doesn't but anyways. I like reading Mythology. Percy Jackson is probably my favorite Mythology book. When I read adventure books it makes me want to do that too and it also makes me feel like I'm there with them. If I could read all day with the books I like I would because they take me on adventures that I couldn't have dreamed of and I still get a
learning experience from.
